Visit to Funchal

During the travel we stayed in Funchal, the capitol city. In this post you'll learn what places you simply can't miss if you come here. Funchal is a little city although it has grown in the last years, especially in the suburbs area. It has a strong colonial look, as can be seen in the buildings of the old area of the city. There are also a lot of well preserved parks and gardens, where

Bern, capitol of Bernese Oberland

Another road trip took us to Bern, the capitol city of Bernese Oberland (Bernese Highlands), and also capitol of Switzerland. The old town is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. We didn’t walk much time because of the bad weather. We walked around the main streets of the old town and the cathedral, the Parliament square and Einstein’s house. But we wished we could have more time to know the city better.

Excursion to Siena

Siena is the second mandatory excursion you should make if you go to Florence. This city was declared as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1995 and it’s 75 km South from Florence. If the weather is good we suggest you to go even further in order to visit San Gimignano (Middle Age’s Manhattan) and Monteriggioni (a little and nice walled village). The trace of the Middle Age will be present all the day during this

Excursion to Pisa

Pisa, home of the famous Leaning Tower, is more or less one hour by car from Florence. That makes it a very attractive destination for a one-day trip. If you also want to know something else about Leonardo da Vinci, you should go to the Leonardo Museum that we talked about in the last post. If you haven’t been to Pisa yet, maybe you’ll find a good surprise. Thinking about Pisa is thinking about its

Piazza del Duomo

At Piazza del Duomo you’ll find the main 4 points of interest that every visitor should know: the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery, Giotto’s Campanile and the Cathedral’s Museum of Opera, which is now located at a separate building. Besides, all these buildings make an amazing monumental complex from every angle of the square. It’s recommendable to come back several times during the day to enjoy it with different light conditions (at
